Kelly Broadhead
University of Utah, Dept. of Bioengineering Associate Professor
Salt Lake City, UT
Dr. Broadhead has been involved with the University of Utah Bioengineering faculty since 2003. During his tenure with the department, he developed the program’s undergraduate capstone design course (Biomedical Engineering Design I and II) in the fall of 2004 which later became the foundation for the bioDesign initiative. Prior to joining the faculty, he led a team of engineers in the development of a set of bioreactors used to generate and study tissues of the human vocal fold under the influence of mechanical force. The system included a significant amount of software development that relied extensively on Dr Broadhead’s experience in software and user interface design. During his career, he has developed a wide variety of software products used in both research and clinical environments and has also had extensive experience designing drug delivery systems used in the central nervous system.
